Comm Department's First Career Expo a Huge Success!

On tuesday, December 2nd, seven professionals in the field of Communications joined moderator Liza N. Burby for a spirited and inspired discussion about their careers and the many opportunities ahead for students in the Adelphi Comm Department. Lecture hall 109 was filled nearly to capacity as each of the panelists talked about how they launched their careers and gave insight into individual journeys.

The panelists were Danielle Burby, a Junior Agent & Foreign Rights Manager for HSG Literary Agency, Joe Kluge, a film producer and adjunct professor at Adelphi, Lloyd Siegel, a broadcast journalist and adjunct professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, Brett Spielberg , a copywriter at Zimmerman/Edelson, Inc. and an Adelphi graduate, Rebecca Jimenez, a Media Coordinator for NBC Sports Group in Stamford, CT and Adelphi graduate, Jordyn Taylor, a reporter for The New York Observer who writes for their technology site, and Frank Turano, who is webmaster and Front-End Developer for CNN and graduated Adelphi magma cum laude in 2014. Ms. Burby is editor-in-chief of Anton Media Group, the founder and publisher of Long Island Parent magazine and Senior Adjunct professor at Adelphi.

After the panel discussion students asked numerous questions pertaining to their own career goals and then everyone gathered in studio 108 (and the Comm Department hallways of Blodgett) to network and talk more about options and opportunity in Communications. There is already talk and anticipation of the next Career Expo!
